Machine Quilting

Today i gave machine quilting a try. I have quilt tops that are in desperate need of being quilted. I have a long way to go...practice, practice, practice!

I'm back!

I haven’t written in a LONG time. I’m happy to be back and I’m going to make an attempt to write on a regular basis.

A couple of months ago I received the best birthday gift ever...

My Bernina 44QE! I waited forever for it and I couldn’t be more pleased to have it. Since buying it I haven’t been able to “play” with it since we (my soon to be hubby and I) relocated to another State right after it was purchased. I’m not quite settled in yet, but I always have time to quilt! Now i can learn to machine quilt! Yay! I’ll be writing about my experiences as I learn to use my Bernina, as i try out new quilting techniques, and to simply have fun. Another purpose of this blog is to also meet other quilters and hopefully get inspired and learn something new.

Joseph's Coat Quilt Along ...

With much deliberating, I decided to join the Joseph's Coat quilt along. I think it's going to look great. I found out about it late and by the time I decided to start I was so far behind. 1st. my compass only opened to 4.5 inches, not the 5.5 inches that was recommended. 2nd. I think I want to make a smaller quilt then what the group is making. 3rd. I'm using freezer paper. I didn't want to wait to order Stitch and Wash Fusible. Ahhh, can i ever just follow the rules and things just work out the way they are supposed to? Well, I'll just see how it all comes out. It'll be fine, I'm sure.

I went through my entire stash and it was great to see some designs I haven't seen in a while. That was fun! I think I will make a scrappy look quilt. I managed to cut out about 150 petals.

This is my first block. I need to get a move on it. :0) I can't wait to see how this is all going to come together.

I really need to charge my camera instead of using my phone...sorry for the bad pictures.

What i've been up to...

It's been a busy week. I joined a Quilt Block Swap and i'm so excited. I've been working on my "Spring Spectacular" applique quilt. I finished my October Block Swap. It was a challage, but it pushed me to try and i did it...yay! I'm also working on a breast cancer ribbon block and i'm starting a hunter's star quilt today, hopefully. :0)
